One week….

by Brooke on April 9, 2008

Wow, thank you for all of the wonderful comments about our new baby! I do read all of them and really appreciate all of the sweet words. I haven’t had much computer time {for obvious reasons!} but wanted to post a few pictures of Haylie from a quickie photoshoot I did of her at one week old.

I came home from the hospital Friday morning and we have been adjusting pretty well to having a newborn in our home! I missed Brandon and Annie while I was at the hospital so it was good to be home. They ADORE Haylie. It’s hard to believe that she’s already one week old. I unfortunately got a horrible case of the stomach flu on Sunday night (I don’t think I’ve EVER been so sick in my life) and that set me back a little bit but every day seems to be better I think. Haylie has been an angel baby so far, is serene and snuggly and a great eater and the last 2 nights I have gotten 6-7 hours of sleep (broken up by just one feeding!!) so that has helped. :) Probably a fluke!! Don’t get me wrong, life DEFINITELY isn’t perfect and it has been a hard week but a beautiful one at the same time. Really, it’s worth it.

One Week:
More than 80 feedings
Not enough hours of sleep
At least 80 diapers
Several loads of laundry
Countless kisses
Quite a few tears (from baby and mommy!)
Delicious meals and wonderful support from friends and ESPECIALLY family.

We are seriously in love with Haylie already–she is calm and tiny and the best snuggler and smells so good, so soft and yummy, has quite the set of lungs when she’s hungry, and we are so glad she’s a part of our family. :) We are so lucky to have such amazing parents and family who have made the transition much easier. And Jaden has been incredible…..I know, I’m gushing…..I just know I couldn’t have done anything without them. Thank you and I love you.

Well, I have TONS of pictures from this first week and want to post the “birth story” soon so hopefully I’ll get another chance within the next few days. I don’t want to forget anything!

Thanks again! Time to go feed Haylie! :)

Congrats on your BEAUTIFUL little girl. I sure wish we lived closer so that we could let Oaklyn hang out with her “boyfriend” more often! (That’s what she calls him when she sees pictures of him!)

Congratulations! She’s such a cutie! And when you get a chance (which may be weeks from now), could you check the email for your 97 reunion? I’m in charge of the 98 reunion and wanted to ask a few questions. You can forward it to any of the other planners…I just knew your blog site to comment on. Good luck with Haylie!

So sweet and precious. I love how their little arms and legs stay curled up. Don’t you wish they could stay this little forever AND get a good nights rest?
