David Archuleta and other happenings…

by Brooke on May 14, 2008

If you squint really hard or zoom in on this picture, you can see Mr. David Archuleta of American Idol fame! Yes, we were somewhat nerdy and went to the “celebration” last Friday. :) He’s from my hometown and the pep rally was at my high school, and we’ve actually been watching American Idol this season, so it was fun to be part of the excitement. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of Mayor Snarr and his handlebar moustache and American Flag Jacket. It was…..an interesting look?? Enough said.

It was a cool, potentially rainy day, but we got our orange and black colors on anyway (MHS colors) and went to the football field with my parents (Jaden was out of town). There was loud music and balloons everywhere, and the kids had fun. Annie kept dancing and saying “Everyone is so happy!” Brandon wore my little brother’s old football jersey. Too cute. I wore my little brother’s OLD faded MHS football hoodie because I had forgotten my own stuff, it was really attractive. 😉 I should’ve gotten out my old student government sweater huh. Um….no!! Haylie was cozy and slept in the Snugli the entire time. I wish I would’ve brought my camera and my big ol’ zoom lens so we could see David better, but I didn’t want it to get rained on. At least we had Grandma Wendy’s camera to document the event. We had a good time.

It was fun to hang out a bit with Julie and her fam.

There were lots of people, a little “parade” around the track (hee hee), performances by various Murray High groups (choirs, band, dance, cheerleaders, etc) and a few presentations by local and state leaders. David seemed a bit tired and flustered by the attention (who could blame him–he had a full day!!) but genuinely grateful to the fans and very humble. He sang a few songs and his voice really is so clear and pure. He’s a very talented kid. There were too many people to get a good picture of David, but that’s okay. So, look for us on American Idol tonight! Ha ha! It’ll be fun to see who wins next week. I also like David Cook so who knows…

Other happenings…

We’ve been quite busy. I’m feeling more like a normal human being now. :) Lots of playdates with the kids. Archuleta rally on Friday afternoon. Saturday was spent going to lunch and shopping with my mom, grandma and aunt (along with Haylie and Annie), Sunday was a busy Mother’s Day (another post on that later), Monday was lunch at Grandma’s house with my cousins and kids. Oh, and lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with Julie, Mary and Kecia on Tuesday–delicious food and therapeutic conversations. :) I actually had a whole hour of free time at home on Tuesday afternoon after the lunch–both girls were asleep and Brandon was swimming/playing/eating dinner with his friend Joshua. Yay for me! I don’t even remember what I did, but it sure was a nice fleeting moment.

I’m so behind on everything in my life, including blogging, so maybe one day I will be slightly more caught up with things. Maybe not. Lots to write about. May is halfway over already, Haylie is growing before our eyes and smiling like crazy–where is the time going? Does anyone else feel that way??

If anyone is still reading this, have a delightful day! :)

Girls and I hit the Archuletta pep-rally. I don’t know how we didn’t bump into you and Julie. oh.. and that mustache on the Mayor. Sad to say that he looked like such a lurp on TV tonight. OF COURSE they showed him instead of our Governor who looks presentable!! I guarantee people re-wound dvr and paused on him to see if he was for real. Your pics are great!!

It is ridiculous how many fans you have. I am, admittedly, one of them. Thanks for sharing your nerdiness!
