First "official" swim of the summer!

by Brooke on June 20, 2008

This week marked our first official trip to the pool this summer! Actually, we went twice! Brandon’s been taking swimming lessons the past few months and they both like to “swim” in our big bathtub, but this was our first real outside swim. We had a great time! These pics are at the nice, quiet pool at my grandma’s condo. We love it there and had fun swimming with Grandma Wendy and Grandma Yoo-Hoo. We also went with some friends to the {crowded} local pool I grew up going to, but I didn’t take out my camera. In case anyone wondered.

Brandon was a crazy fish, Annie was fairly cautious and liked to splash on the steps. And little Haylie slept the whole time in her carseat under the umbrella. :)

Brandon kept doing summersaults underwater and was so excited to show his swimming teacher the next day. Silly Annie kept wearing a bucket on her head.

Not fun to dig out my swimsuits and squeeze my post-partum bod into them, but oh well. The water was so enticing that my kids didn’t seem to notice the bright white whale swimming along with them. Ha ha! :) Just joking…sort of. In spite of that, we are definitely looking forward to more water-filled days this summer!

What a fun day at the pool. Great pics of the kiddies. I think that even the thought of putting on a swimsuit somedays is traumatizing.

Sounds kind of fun. I don’t know about the swimsuit part. I have to do this with all the youth and youth leaders next Saturday. YIKES! I am shaking with the thought of it.

I need to know how you did the black and white for Annie’s picture. I love it. It is so bright.

Looks like we’re on the same page with our “summer” posts! I love how Annie was just sunctioned on to you at the pool the other day . . .and Brandon, total opposite! So fun! I’ll make sure Kecia emails you the pictures so you can post them . . .

Brooke those pics are so cute (like they always are)!! It looks like you guys had a fun time. I love swimming and water activities but I am probably MORE white than you and I’m probably the shaq of whales! 😉 I don’t own a swimsuit that fits me right now! :(

My favorite pics: Annie’s black and white…that smile is the best!
Brandon floating in the tube…with a #5 on the ground…cause he’s 5! I hope we can swim again with you guys soon! Just make sure your camera stays far away from me! :)

What a fun day at the pool. We have been taking Grayson to the pool a lot this summer. It is really fun but I know what you mean about the post-baby bod! I feel the same way but it is so fun to get out and swim!

Very cute pictures. When my son first started learning to swim, I noticed that his teachers used a nice checklist. I worked with them to come up with this free Swimming assessment you might find useful ti pinpoint what specific skill your child needs to focus on. I’d appreciate your feedback http://blog.scientificleader.com/2008/11/29/free-swimming-assessment-rasch-measurement-demonstration/
