Decking the Halls for Halloween

by Brooke on October 21, 2008

Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays to decorate for. Just thought I’d share a few little Halloween decor ideas from around my house this year.

I made this Trick or Treat canvas–it was featured as a hybrid digi project and tutorial in the September issue of Bella Scraps Magazine, so I can finally blog about it! I just made the design in photoshop, printed it, and Mod Podged it onto a blank canvas that I’d painted black. Then I trimmed the edges with black ribbon.

This was probably the easiest project ever. I just typed the letters on orange damask digi paper (from www.shabbymissjenndesigns.com, the Harvest Night kit) and printed as 8×8 layouts at Costco. Then stuck them in frames I already had. EASY!

I love this glittery “Happy Halloween” on my mantle. Thanks Mom for helping me decide where to put everything! :) My mom and mother-in-law are the Halloween decoration queens. They really are.

Annie and I picked these pretty leaves off the ground after walking Brandon to the bus this afternoon. What a blustery fall day.

I’ve kind of been a blog slacker the last week or so–lots going on, plus we’ve had some sickness in the house. I have completely lost my voice (since Saturday!) and still am only able to make hideous squeaking sounds that only slightly resemble actual words. It’s been pretty quiet around here, needless to say. My kids are learning to listen better, and I can’t yell at them, so maybe it’s a good thing. :)

Brandon told me that my voice traveled far away because it didn’t want to be in my mouth anymore. And that soon I’ll have a new voice. The kids have been praying that I’ll get better (awww, sweet!) and Jaden has been taking care of me. Brandon also said that he’ll make a wish on a dandelion that my voice will come back and never travel away again. :) :) :) I love it. Making a wish on a dandelion….

I actually feel better than I sound, which is also good because I sound like death. So I haven’t been able to make any phone calls or even answer the phone really…so hopefully I’ll get caught up on my conversations soon! :) It’s amazing how much you realize you want to say and people you want to call—when you can’t really speak!! Anyway, I will also plan on blogging about our happenings soon too, because I like having things written down and tucked happily away in blogville so I don’t forget what we did and said and will one day print it all out for our posterity to enjoy.

Have a lovely fall day!

Cute Cute Cute! I love it all! Will you come and decorate my house all cute and “halloweeny”? And I’m sorry about the cold. I think I have the same one. My voice is about shot too. Maybe Brandon could wish on that dandelion for mine to come back too! Too cute!

I bought a few pumpkins. Does that count? Oh yeah, and by accident my wreath is orange. Hey, sorry about the cold. Get ready for the girls’ night out though. You can’t miss that.

The door hanging is my fav – cute! I’m the worst when it comes to holiday decorations. At least I have yours to look at now! I think my kids would be very grateful if my voice suddenly disappeared . . . but I hope yours returns quickly!!!

I love your photos. I never noticed that you have your name/logo at the bottom. Don’t think I’m a stalker, but I called you and left a message. We are in need of a family picture. Do you do that sort of thing? Let me know.

I love your decor. I need someone to come show me how to make my house cute with details like that.
