I am alive.

by Brooke on April 20, 2009

I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve posted. I’ve had good intentions but the last month has been a bit overwhelming with lots going on. At some points over the past few weeks I have felt like a boulder was sitting on me, a physical stress reaction to everything I had going on! I know everyone has felt that way, right? Stress=Yuck.

Anyway, things have settled down a little bit but the “stuff to do” never really goes away. :) We had a great Easter which I’ll post about tomorrow (it’s almost ready), a fun Spring Break, birthday celebrations, a fun digital scrapbooking open house I was able to teach at, enjoying playing outside in the random moments of warm weather (although it’ll stick around this week–YAY!), bridal shower for a cousin (it was fun to be giggly with my Julie and Kirsten girls), and I taught my first lesson in Relief Society yesterday, just to mention a few highlights. Glad that one is over. :) Lots of stuff coming up and projects to do, so the craziness really doesn’t go away. Hopefully I’ll be able to organize myself better and prioritize. Such is life.

Well, this post is random. I have to have one of these at least once a month I think. Sometimes that’s the way I roll. Here are some more randomosities. (I think I just made up a word.)

*I made a delicioso turkey in the crock pot Saturday. After I wrestled the turkey carcass from the wrapper, and tried not to dry heave as I looked into the “cavity” (ew) and saw various body parts that I hadn’t seen since my Human Anatomy class freshman year at THE BYU….it was actually very easy and cooked all day and was YUMMY of all yummies later that night. Brandon in his prayers said “We are grateful for the DELICIOUS turkey.” And as he ate his 3rd or 4th helping during dinner, he said “I am just CRAZY about this turkey!” Ahhh, isn’t that something moms dream to hear from their kids about dinner???? :) And I even made gravy. Wow, I’m feeling so Betty Crocker-ish. And I even got the turkey for free, thanks to my new thrifty couponing hobby.

*Speaking of couponing, I’m hosting a class at my house on May 12 if anybody wants some tips to save money. I’ve had a lot of people asking me about it, so I’ll be sending out an invite soon. Don’t worry, I’m not teaching it, my cute friend Lara and her cute sister are. We all know when I teach things I immediately get up to the podium and start to cry. Oh wait, that’s just in Relief Society. Why oh why did I wear mascara to church yesterday????? I had the Tammy Faye look going on for sure. Or worse.

*I just think it’s funny when it gets slightly warmer outside after the long dark winter, that people go crazy and think it’s 100 degrees. And wear their swimsuits as they are walking down the street, in 60 degree weather. It slightly baffles me.

*Annie is loving ponies lately. I’ve never been a huge horse fan, I didn’t have horse backbacks or folders or draw horse doodles on my notepads in elementary school. Oh, and maybe that’s because a horse kicked me a little bit in the head when I was younger…..anyway. But Annie has this horse, well specifically PONY thing lately. We drove past Lagoon the other day, and Brandon said “it is my dream to go to Lagoon this summer.” That made me chuckle. And then Annie piped in. “Well, MY dream is all about ponies! I want to ride on a pony.” I about died laughing, it just struck me funny. Then some cartoon on TV was talking about a rainbow pony. Annie got all excited and said “I love rainbows AND ponies!!” I don’t know why but all this pony talk cracks up me and Jaden.

*We are really excited because this week we are going to see Wicked!! My parents gave us tickets for Christmas. I think I’m one of the few people who doesn’t know much about it and I don’t have the soundtrack already memorized, so it’ll be fun to see it and know what everyone’s talking about. We are looking forward to Thursday!

*Every single time I have something I’m working on with the computer and/or internet, they stop working. Especially and always when I have a deadline. It happened multiple times over the last few weeks. The computer froze. The internet stopped working. The computer wouldn’t turn back on. Blah blah blah. And now, since this week has less deadlines, they are working beautifully. Murphy’s Law.

*Annie is also into telling jokes that make no sense. I’ve mentioned that before. Here is her “go to” joke: Knock knock. Who’s there? Banana peel. Banana peel who? Gimme a banana. (insert wild laughter by Annie and Brandon.) Looks like we need to study the “world’s funniest jokes” book and get some new material.

Looks like I need to go fulfill some motherly duties. I’ll be back at least by tomorrow to post some Easter pictures.

I didn’t have a chance to grab you after RS yesterday and tell you how much I loved your lesson. I don’t get to come to RS often because of Primary and I thought to myself as I was walking in “I hope Brooke is teaching today” and you did not disappoint. Well done and the Spirit was pouring out of every inch of you and that lesson. One of these days when life slows down for 1/2 a minute I would love to go get a treat with you and visit. Have a great week.

you are so cute. I had on of those months too. I didn’t post once in March. And it’s taken me a few weeks to catch up. Anyway, I would like to be included in the coupon class. I have a friend that’s into it. she tried to show me how to do it, but I didn’t get. Let me know.

Oh Brooke–you are missed when you don’t post! I feel like I’ve had a good old conversation with you after I visit here. You are a doll. If you didn’t have a specific group in mind for the coupon class, I’d be interested in coming–I’d even bring a treat if you need! Much love….

You’ll love Wicked. When I saw it I had NO IDEA what the story line was and I think I liked the wonder of it all. You’ll absolutely adore it and THEN get the soundtrack and memorize the music. My boys both can sing the words to the songs:) I would love to come to your coupon class. I am horrible at that sort of thing. I don’t even compare prices…I just grab what I need and go home. My husband will be pleased to hear that I’m spending my time in a coupon class:)

I also want to invite you to a Jewelry party at my house. It’s this Wed. Look at my blog for details. I thought I’d let you know because you are so crafty and would appreciate the fact that this lady MAKES all her own pendants. I mean, she solters them by hand for Heaven’s sake! So, I’d love to see you there if you can make it.

The advise I was given was not to let anyone tell you about Wicked's story line but before you go, listen to the music while reading the words so you'll know what they're singing when you hear it. I understood what was going on so much better & the fun surprises were still surprises for me. Have so much fun! I think it is such a clever play & the music showcases those talented performers so amazingly. Love you, Gloria
