Disneyworld Part 1: Disney Hollywood Studios

by Brooke on February 25, 2011

I’m excited to blog about our great trip to Florida this month! And frankly I’m a bit in shock that I’ve actually started the process. :) I’ll be breaking up the trip into a series of posts, just so I don’t have 1000 pictures in one gigantor post. :) Also I won’t be blogging a day-by-day report, or in the exact order that we visited the parks–but the posts will be organized by park. I am writing way too much about this, huh.

Anyway. We flew into Orlando Thursday night (Feb. 3)  and finally got our exhausted crew to the townhouse we were renting. We slept well that night and were all eager to get over to the parks! We had a 7 day pass to all four Disney parks, and had an awesome time at all of them.

First up is Disney Hollywood Studios. Some people call it MGM I guess. At any rate, it was set up like old time Hollywood and it had some awesome rides. You gotta love Disney, they leave no detail untouched.

There’s a new ride called Toy Story Mania that was a favorite. The inside was decorated in larger-than-life toys and game pieces, such as Shoots and Ladders and Scrabble, those plastic monkey thingies, cards, Lincoln Logs, you name it! This was probably the longest line we had to wait in the whole trip (about 30 minutes) and there was plenty to keep us entertained.

Our kids loved the giant talking Mr. Potato Head!

This was Haylie’s fake smile that seemed to make an appearance whenever I got my camera out. It makes me laugh!

The ride itself is a 3-D game, where you shoot at things and rack up your points–it is really unique and a total blast! We looked really cool with our 3-D spectacles. :)

Afterwards we got some pictures with a few of the Toy Story characters and props.

Another of my favorites is the Hollywood Tower of Terror! You get into an elevator and go to the Twilight zone, then you free fall in the elevator! Love it. Annie went on this ride more than 4 times. I lost count. It’s so freakishly fun. (It’s behind them in the picture, I guess they are renovating it.)

The other “must ride” there is the Rockin’ Rollercoaster. I LOVE roller coasters and this one is like California Screamin’ and Space Mountain combined–upside down in the darkness. So cool. Brandon rode this (Annie wasn’t tall enough) and was so brave! They blast Aerosmith into your ears the whole time you’re on the ride too. I am slightly deaf because of it, ha ha! Brandon liked the giant electric guitar there.

While us girls were waiting for the boys to finish riding the roller coaster, I took a few cute pics of Annie and Haylie. :) I love them!

(The first time we went to Hollywood Studios Haylie started to get sick. I will write more about that later….good times.)

Here are a few more random shots from Hollywood Studios….

Hmmmm, I feel like going on those rides again right now! :) We had so much fun . . . .

Stay tuned for the next Disneyworld post!

Brooke…! How the heck are ya?

I’m so excited to read this post! I mean, I love your contributions to Crafting Chicks, but I so enjoy seeing posts about your cute family! And when did Haylie get so big?!!!

Anyway, looks like you had a wonderful time. My kids would be all of that Toy Story experience! Can’t wait to see your future posts.

Take care,
Val

I’m so jealous, I wish we could have been there with you. The giant Lightening Mcqueen car was pretty awesome, Hendrix would haved loved to see that. My favorite pictures BY FAR though is of Jaden strapped to the rocket. I peed in my pants a little bit when I saw it. Thanks Jaden!

Hello! I stumbled on your website and I love the craft ideas along with learning about your family! Your pictures are stunning, what type of camera do you use? I am hoping to upgrade soon to a Digital SLR, but want one that produces a great quality like yours, for a decent price. We have a little one on the way and I want to capture moments like this! :) Thanks!

You are so sweet! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond! My camera is a Canon Rebel XTi. There have been several new models that have come out so this one would be a decent price since it’s older. My favorite lens is a Canon 50 mm 1.8 lens, they run around 100 bucks. Hope that helps!
