Hippo-esque

by Brooke on February 26, 2008

I am feeling quite like this picture lately. I’m at the point where I’m SO ready to NOT be pregnant anymore, but not ready to have a newborn yet. :) I make sound effects every time I move–moans and groans. Sleep is not pleasant. It’s hard to breathe. I am tired of my limited wardrobe. I bet you’re glad you don’t live with me. My D-Day has changed to Thurs. April 3rd (March 31st was full) so it’ll be fun to have an April babe. 5 weeks from this Thursday……

We had some fun stuff last week. Thursday Ash and her kids came over and we got to meet Miss Chloe. I took some pictures of her and she was so easy and cute!! Just bendable and snuggly. Even amid the chaos of the 4 other kids running around. I really like taking pictures of newbies because I don’t have to chase them around or make a fool of myself trying to get a smile! :) I’ll post some pics later…

Friday night we hosted a little fondue party at our house. I’ve finally decided to do a little bit of entertaining here–I’d been putting it off until I felt our house was all decorated and cute and ready to “show” but figure if I waited for that to happen, we’d live like hermits and never have anyone over! Because it’ll probably never be totally done, I swear. Anyway, we had a blast–me, Julie, Mary, Kecia and the husbands!! And no kids. Hallelujah. There was food galore–meatballs, delicious salad, stuff for chocolate and cheese fondue. I stuffed myself, which adds to my feeling of hippo-ishness. Oh, and we can’t forget the beverage–fresca mixed with white grape juice concentrate and the huge bag of yummy crushy ice from Sonic–thanks for the tip, Julie!! I had about a gallon of it myself and was up all night long as a result. :) We ate and chatted and laughed and played a fun game–and didn’t take any pictures. I think that I’ve found people who are even MORE picture-happy than I am, and can’t believe there is not one photo between us to document the evening for the blogs. :) We were just too busy having fun I guess. And trying not to burn Mark’s sensitive skin with the dangerous fondue burner thingie. Anyway, it was lots of fun.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Have a good day!

hippos are adorable. :) but i’m sure it’s nice to just FEEL like one and not LOOK like one. pregnant gals are beautiful – unless i’m the pregnant one. then it’s just urgh.

sounds like a delightful night with friends. did you like how your fondue turned out? i have a fondue set (wedding present?) that i’ve never used but have always wanted to. any suggestions?

keep on keeping on! you’re so close. . .

Your new due date is my anniversary. I wish they moved your due date up instead of back. I remember the feeling of the 8-month belly all too well.

Your fondue party sounds like a blast. It’s so therapeutic to get together and laugh with friends.

I still consider it a miracle that I escaped without my limbs transformed into puffy, burned mounds of flesh.

Also, sorry about your banister. It was time for payback.

I am sure you are adorable. That end of pregnancy thing is just awesome. The fondue party was quite ambitious, though. I hope you made Jaden do all the prep and clean up.

Oh, and I guess it is beneficial that Mark escaped without injury. I can’t believe you invited over such a liability…

I personally find that hippo very beautesque. You look fabulous for only having 5 weeks to go. I’ve always been quite envious that you manage to gain so little weight during your pregnancies…you look great! I’ll take a few extra deep breaths for you tonight cause I know you can’t yourself.

Thanks for the “fundoe” party…it was spectacular…flames and all. Since that night I have come up with some EXCELLENT ideas for that little game we played…we MUST do it again. (Think…supreme court.)

Really all I need to say is “ditto” from Julie’s comment! You really do look cute – it never feels cute when it’s you though! Thanks again for the great party, we had a blast (literally!!).

A am so sorry!!! But coming from someone who has to have babies 4 weeks early…keep them in as long as possible. Let them get fully cooked! I can’t even imagine how big I would get if I went full term. I’m sure you look darling though. Hang in there!
p.s. super sad I can’t make the PC retreat. I have a wedding I have to do that weekend. :(
