Weekend Update

by Brooke on July 13, 2008

On Saturday afternoon we decided to go on a hike as a family. We went up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Alta to go on the Albion Basin Trail–just a short, easy, but beautiful hike. I love living so close to the mountains.

It was like 75 degrees up the canyon which was perfect! It felt so good compared to the nearly 100 degree weather we’ve been having the last few weeks.

Haylie was a delight! She was content in the Snugli just chomping on her fists. Then she fell asleep. :) It’s a rough life.

Don’t let these cute, happy Annie pictures fool you.

Because she pretty much whined and cried the whole hike. And made Jaden carry her. This picture doesn’t even do justice.

Brandon had fun “exploring” and finding huge rocks that he carried with him halfway up the trail. :)

It is so pretty up there.

We didn’t even finish the hike (we got a late start and Annie was being a tantrum-ish slowpoke) because we had a hot date Saturday night!! :) We met some friends at Asian Star and had a great time catching up without kids! Lots of laughing and reminiscing and good food. It’s fun to get together with people who knew you way back in the olden days. Mark taught us even more fun games to play with little pieces of paper–I’m still laughing about some of the questions we got answered. (wink wink–SARA!) Ah, it was lots of fun.

Then at church today, miracle of miracles, Brandon was chosen to be the reverence child for next Sunday. Yes, I said REVERENCE. (If you know what we’ve been battling lately, you’ll understand how miraculous that is!) So he’s pretty excited about that. We’ll see how it goes.

All in all, it was a good weekend.

PS: Our 4th of July was a blast (get it?) and I’ll post about that soon. I’m so behind on everything in my life.

Hi Brooke! This is Lindsay Bennett, your 3rd cousin. (I specified, just in case.) How the heck are ya?!?!

My mom and your mom ‘hung out’ at the funeral last week and discussed how we are both into the blogging world. Maybe we can keep in touch thru that fascinating world, eh!?! My blog is http://predsgirl.blogspot.com/. Check it out and we can keep up!

When my mom comes down sometime (she now lives in Logan), we’ll have to get together for a girls day out!

Your kids are SO DANG CUTE and they are growing up so fast! Wow! Where does the time go?!?

I look forward to hearing from ya!

Hello, my name is Lara, I frequent your blog because I think it is so dang cute and your creativeness and photography are amazing! I just had a quick question, how do you make your header fit the width of your blog? I can’t seem to get mine to do it? Please visit my blog and leave me a comment if you can help! Thanks!

I can’t hardly remember the last time I went to the mountains. Great pictures. I think this is now another thing on my agenda.

Congratulations, Brandon. You did it! You fooled them all…eh ehm….I mean you accomplished reverence! Good work.

Your pictures make me want to go hike in the mountains. I haven’t been up there much this year, but I always love it when we go. I love the picture of Annie crying. We’re in the same mode with Cambrie these days. It’s all so relatable!

Living in Houston there is no mountains, that is what I miss the most. Can’t wait to go hiking up in Utah soon. Looks like a blast!!

I love going on hikes. For how much we love the mountains, I am suprised we don’t go up there more. We went on Sat too but I forgot the camera.

When Jaime comes, we should all get together and hang out. :)

I loved reading all the “deets” of your fun filled weekend. The hiking trip looks way fun…even if you had grumpy kids. Next time call us and we’ll come along with you!

Hey Lara (The Heizzys), i couldn’t get to your blog because it’s not listed! So I’ll try to answer you here.

My blog template is 900 pixels wide (I think you can find the width of your blog in the HTML code, it might take a little bit of searching to find it). I created my header in Photoshop Elements and just made sure it was 900 pixels wide. If you have any other questions, let me know and leave your blog address or email and I can help you more.

Brooke, You are amazing. I can’t believe all the stuff you do. I thought you might slow down with three kids, but no! I miss you. I love the pictures. Thanks for letting me be a part of your life even if it is only thru your blog now!

My friend and I are taking our kids hiking there on Friday. I am glad to know your kiddos were able to do that. I have never been there. I was drooling as soon as I heard Asian Star. Hopefully you stuffed yourself with walnut shrimp. It was fun to get together this week and I will post the pics on my blog soon.
