Week in Review

by Brooke on August 18, 2008

The last week or so has been pretty full for us. I’m going to cram some of the happenings into one fun juicy random post. :)

The kids have been having fun playing in the the enormous fort in the basement that Uncle Tyler helped them make….and making it even bigger with their friends. (Yeah, Annie’s hair is almost always a complete afro.)

Haylie just likes being cute and watching the Olympics with Daddy.

We went and had lunch with Grandma Tutu–it’s sad though because it was Brandon’s last time, since he is starting afternoon Kindergarten. Just one of the many ways our life is going to change in the next few weeks!

Last Tuesday we went with Ash and her kids and joined every other person in the universe and went to Thanksgiving Point for their $2 Tuesday. It was a fabulous deal but the children’s gardens were packed and slightly insane. We still had fun and I don’t think the kids stopped running the entire time. :)

Annie and Brielle kept holding hands and were so cute playing together. Victory!!

Running through the big sprinklers….

Silly girls!
Brandon at the Noah’s Ark water area place thingie.

Yep, Haylie was there, just happy and sweet in her stroller. Seriously, how nice would it be to be strolled around surrounded by toys and shaded from the sun, being fed on cue? No wonder she’s so happy!

The flowers at Thanksgiving Point are so gorgeous. If I didn’t have to chase wild children I would’ve liked to take more pics of the flowers.

Moving onto another unrelated topic: dance. Annie started her little dance classes last week. Here she is in her new leotard and so excited to “dance with Scarlet”!! (Her friend she’s taking dance with). Sadly enough, Annie inherited my lack of gracefulness and hopefully ballet will help with her klutziness. Even though I took dance for years and it didn’t cure me. Oh well, we can hope. :)

Why does she look so grown up? She’s not even 3 yet!!!

Here she is in tap class. After this picture she had a small meltdown and refused to dance anymore. Isn’t that sweet??? She did awesome in her ballet class, however. We’ll see how it goes this week. Hopefully better, because I just bought the cutest little tap shoes I’ve ever seen.

Jaden was out of town for work–at least I think it was for work, because every time I talked to him he was going on roller coasters and zip lines in Park City or golfing at the Homestead or playing pranks on his boss. Hmmm, sounds like a lot of hard work to me. I don’t think it was as hard as me taking all 3 kids to Walmart AND Target for last minute dance paraphernalia.

We got Brandon all registered for school. I had to sign about 1,456 papers and join the PTA.

******I warned you about the randomness. :)******

Thursday night was soccer practice (Jaden is Brandon’s coach) and then Enrichment, where we learned about “Greening our Cleaning.” It was really interesting to learn about how to make our own, more environmentally-concious cleaning supplies. I’ll have to try it out. One of the ingredients is BORAX. I like that word. BORAX.

Friday night brought me back to Thanksgiving Point as we went to Brian Regan (a hilarious, clean comedian) there–with VIP tickets mind you!! Background story: last summer we went to Cancun with my family and stayed in a house. We made friends with the next door neighbor who happens to be Brian Regan’s manager. He is so kind and has given us free VIP tickets anytime Brian Regan comes to town. It was so much fun. We got to ride down to the seating area in a golf cart and everything. :) We felt neat for about 10 seconds.

We went with Tyler, Lisa, and 4 other friends. The area was so pretty, right in front of the waterfalls.
Even Haylie got to join in the fun. She looks like a cute pink jailbird.

Here is Brian. My face was so sore from laughing my head off at this man. At some moments I couldn’t even control what my face was doing because it was so funny. I think it’s still sore today. I was convulsing with laughter. Literally.

Here we are in our blurry glory, with Clay and Natalie, showing off our VIP passes. Too bad Brian left right after it was over, so we couldn’t go backstage as planned. But that’s okay. Oh, and Happy Birthday to Clay.

Nate and his date, Lisa and Ty. A good time was had by all.

Saturday night we went to our Ward Temple Night and dinner, which was wonderful!

We also have been watching this:

And got so excited watching this:

Brandon said “I want to be super fast at swimming like him!” That would be fun. I think I’ve watched more this Olympics than any other year, esp. swimming.

Well I think that’s about it for now. Stay cute and cool.

PS: I did finish Breaking Dawn. And finally saw the trailer to the movie. And this funny spoof on it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dompotjTeIA

Holy cow you have been busy! And, you have some dang cute kiddos!!

I went to Thanksgiving Point last Tues, too, with the YW in my ward…and it was total craziness! We rode the segways and had a blast! You are right…it was crammed but fun and beautiful!

And I TOTALLY LOVE Brian Regan, too!! I have his DVD and CD and laugh til it hurts everytime I hear him or quote him. I love his clean jokes! :-)

Tell us more about ‘Greening our Cleaning’. I am intrigued!

And, if you aren’t busy enough, I think we should hang out sometime! Maybe do a girls night with you, your mom, your gma and my side of the fam, too. I think it would be filled with all sorts of laughs!! LOL.

SOOOO glad I have your blog to read and catch up!! Take care!

Oh my, you HAVE been one busy girl. First, I must say that Annie in dance is adorable. I only hope that I will be invited to her recital, I can only imagine how entertaining that will be. Second, I’m glad you survived your week without Jaden. Third, I want to hear more about your “Green Cleaning”. Fourth, I have heard from others that Brian Regan was HILARIOUS…we’ll have to catch him next time he’s here. Fifth, glad you finished Breaking Dawn. Let’s discuss it sometime!

How do you know Clay and Natalie? Did you know that Clay is best friends with one of our best friends? And Natalie went through the teaching program with my sister at Utah State. Is this the smallest world?

And, if you’re going to visit Thanksgiving Point so often, you really should drop by…I live exactly 2.5 miles from the Discovery Gardens (it’s on my regular running route).

Wait, it just occurred to me that you probably know Clay through Bullfrog. Right?

Good times all around! Brian Regan cracks me up, we wanted to go to too but were out of town, dang it. Annie looks so cute in her little leotard. Unfortunately, like you, dance lessons didn’t help me either. Darn. At least we can be uncoordinated together!

Hey Miss Fancy Pants. I did a few loads of laundry, did a birthday party and got up at 6:00am. Beat that! HA

Cute Annie. I still have to get all the ballet jazz stuff. “G’s” class only had 3 girls in it, so she had tons of one-on-one time. It looks super cute with all the girls lined up though.

It’s fun to see what you have been up to! We were at T-Point too… how in the world did we not see you with the 8 million people there? Jadyn had those same pink jams and Josh said the exact thing :) By the way we only use like 4 natural items (borax being one of them) to clean our entire house.. plus some yummy essential oils… Call if you need help! It is so much better for you and your kiddos!
