For Sale

Yep, it’s true. We are moving.

It’s such a bittersweet thing. We have found a great place just about 5 minutes away from our current house and we feel like it’s where we are supposed to be. But we are sad to leave this place that has been our home for 4 1/2 years, our neighbors and friends who we just love. I’ll get into my emotions on the subject on a future post. :) I hope my friends will still like me even if I live further away. :)

So now begins the insanity. There’s nothing more motivating (or stress-worthy) than knowing that strangers are going to be traipsing through your personal space to kick your bum into organization overdrive. We’ve done tons of decluttering (I’ve seen enough episodes of “Sell This House” or “Designed to Sell” or other various HGTV specials to know that this is crucial) and sorting and trips to the DI and small home improvement projects. Lots of work but it feels good….even though there is still a lot to do. I’m excited because I found my label maker, so watch out!

So needless to say, life is kind of crazy right now. But we’ve still managed to get some fun in. I’ve jotted down some of the cute and funny things the kids have said and/or done the last few days.

In the organization quest, I’ve unearthed a few toys that were supposed to be Christmas/Birthday/Easter gifts. Oops, I guess I forgot. BUT….instead of being the “Alzheimer’s” mom, I’ve decided to become the awesome mom who randomly surprises her kids with toys for no reason whatsoever! :) Brandon found this doodle thing and drew this picture. I loved it and made him pose for me with his masterpiece. Isn’t is so darn cute??? This is one of the more detailed people he has drawn. Got to document it, baby! I love how they draw the arms and feet coming right out of the head. And look at those pearly whites and elephant-sized ears! Love it.

Funny things Brandon has said:
**”Mom, I have to brush my teeth so that I don’t get any scabities, because that would hurt.” Note: scabities is my new favorite word.
**I was putting a bandaid on his foot with some Neosporin and he said, “Well done, Mom.” Glad I got the Brandon seal of approval.
**Lately he’s been saying “I have a wonderful idea!” Usually they are pretty wonderful, I’d say. Except for when he wants me to wear an Elastigirl costume.
**”Is that a hurty bush?” We have a few sharp and “hurty” plants, I mean, weeds, in our yard. Brandon gets concerned.
**Today we went to McDonalds and the kids got one of those teeny tiny ice cream cones. Those things are adorable. Brandon ate his pretty quickly and said “Look, I didn’t even have to lick the drips!” Annie, on the other hand, got it all over her face and hands and shirt. Obviously she hasn’t learned the “lick the drips” technique.

The kids have been pretty cute together lately. Annie just thinks Brandon is the coolest and likes to follow him around and copy what he does. The other night Brandon told me that he REEEEALLLY wished that he was a magician and could do magic tricks. So I told him to pretend he was a magician. He found magic wands for both himself and Annie and they went around “whooooshing” and “poooofing” and “presto changeo-ing”. He turned Annie into a kitty, so she meowed for quite a while after that. I think that was a semi-permanent spell. I got turned into a dog, a cow, and a TV.

A few mornings ago Annie went and sat by Brandon as he was eating one of his favorite meals, Fruity Cheerios. It was so sweet to watch as he spoon fed his little sister. I didn’t even really care if they made a mess because it was so cute to see them interact. Check out the lovely morning hair-dos on both of them!

I love how Brandon already acts like a protector to Annie. At the playground at McDonalds today she got scared, and I heard Brandon say to another kid, “Hey, that’s my baby sister!” and gave her a big hug. I think he thought the other kid was being mean to her. Last week he showed someone a picture of Annie and said “This is my little sister, Annie. Isn’t she pretty?”
dryingtoes
Speaking of pretty, Annie loves having her fingernails and toenails painted. This is a picture of her blowing on her toes to dry the nail polish!!! I wish I was still that flexible! :) She continues to crack us up–she runs (actually it’s more like a trot-stumble) and tries to repeat everything we say. She’s been stringing a few words together but her longest one lately was “More milk please mommy.” COOL! My favorite word she says at the moment is “dee-dee” which means dirty. She wiggles her chubby little fingers out so i can clean whatever “dee-dee” thing is on it. :)

Okay, I’m long winded tonight! Just wanted to jot down those little memories while they’re fresh on my mind. Because with getting this house ready to sell, I’ll probably be losing my mind in the next few days. Thank goodness for this blog to remind me what’s been happening! :) Off to sleep where I’m sure I’ll dream of cardboard boxes and storage units and label making galore….

Another entertaining post, as always! Love the picture of Brandon feeding Annie, super cute! I wish I could paint Abbie’s toes, I think she might try to eat it! Good Luck with the move!
